Our Church
First Baptist Church Citrus Park (FBCCP) was founded in 1945 as Citrus Park Baptist Mission, an outreach of Odessa Baptist Church. The mission started with ten members and met in the lunchroom of the building that is now Citrus Park Elementary School. After one year the mission had grown in membership and purchased a parcel of property across the street which is our current location.
In 1948, the members of Citrus Park Mission and Odessa Baptist Church voted to establish the mission as an independent church known as Citrus Park Baptist Church and called its first pastor. Later that year the church joined the Tampa Bay Baptist Association of the Florida Baptist Association, which is an affiliate of the Southern Baptist Convention.
By the late fifties, the church had grown to over 400 members and was in need of a new sanctuary. In 1959, the construction of the sanctuary was completed and it still serves the church today.
The church was renamed in 1980 to First Baptist Church of Citrus Park. The church has an exciting history, which includes the establishment of Citrus Park Christian School in 1983 and the addition of multiple ministries and facilities.
Today the church continues to serve the northwest Tampa area and fulfil its original statement of purpose:
To glorify God through praise and worship in a loving atmosphere, train believers to grow spiritually, and to reach others for Christ.
